18 diphteria cases reported

Aug 08, 2017

18 diphteria cases have been reported, up to the week of August 5th.

The Health Ministry says the total involved three fatalities, including the recent death of a 9-year-old boy in Sabah, who wasn't given all the necessary vaccinations.

The figure, however, is lower than what was recorded during the corresponding period last year, where there were 23 cases involving 5 fatalities.

The Ministry is also reminding, that diphteria can easily be prevented, by getting the full immunisation schedule.
