Bank Negara to decide on legality of cryptocurrencies

Bank Negara will decide whether cryptocurrencies should be banned in Malaysia, before the end of the year.

It says it is looking at all aspects when deciding on the policy. 

If it's use is allowed, then the guidelines will address the issue in terms of registering the players and ensuring their activities are transparent.
 
The risks associated with money laundering and terrorism financing will also be addressed.
