No Malaysians were injured in Italy earthquake

Aug 25, 2016

No Malaysians were injured in the deadly earthquake in Italy yesterday.

Wisma Putra says it is in close contact with Italian authorities and will provide updates from time to time.

The government also extended its condolences to Italy, specifically to the families who lost their loved ones in the disaster.

The death toll from the 6.2 magnitude earthquake has risen to at least 159, while some 370 others have been injured.

Most of the dead are from the historic town of Amatrice, where the mayor says 3 quarters of the town was destroyed.

Rescue personnel are still trying to rescue many people believed to be buried under rubble.
