27th diphteria case reported in Malaysia

A 3-year-old child in Selangor has become the 27th confirmed diphteria case in Malaysia.

The Health Ministry says the boy was not immunised against the disease, as the family practiced homeopathy treatment.

He was admitted to the ICU with shortness of breath last week, and is currently on antibiotics.

So far, all 14 children who were believed to have been in close contact with the child are in good health.
