Those returning from countries with Zika urged to get tested

Aug 30, 2016

The Health Ministry has urged those returning to Malaysia from countries with Zika to voluntarily get tested for the virus.

This, as 80% of those infected do not show any symptoms, making the virus difficult to detect.

It said this precautionary measure is especially important for those who commute from Johor to Singapore daily, in fact, they should take the blood test every day.

The number of locally-transmitted Zika cases in Singapore rose to 56 yesterday after another 15 cases were detected.
