Driver of piling rig that collapsed and killed a couple in Klang arrested

Nov 06, 2016

The police have arrested the driver of the piling rig that collapsed and killed a couple in Klang, Selangor on Friday.

The cops have also called 2 others to come forward for questioning, namely the construction site supervisor and the occupational safety and health supervisor.

According to the NST, the 3 men, all Malaysians, are being investigated for causing death by negligence.

Meanwhile, the Institution of Engineers Malaysia has called for safety awareness courses to be introduced to increase the safety knowledge of crane, pile driver and bulldozer operators.

It told the Star, placing more safety officers at the site will not necessarily help, because they don't know anything about the machines themselves.
