Government demanding release of Malaysians stranded in North Korea

Mar 07, 2017

The government is demanding the immediate release of our citizens who are stranded in North Korea.

This, after Pyongyang banned Malaysians from leaving the country, amid the escalating row over the recent KLIA2 murder.

The PM has condemned the ban, and in response, ordered authorities to prevent all North Korean citizens here from leaving Malaysia, until we are assured of the safety of our citizens over there.

Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has also called for an emergency meeting of the National Security Council, to discuss the matter.

Meanwhile, the Home Ministry says the North Korean embassy in KL has been sealed off, so that authorities can physically identify all those inside the premises.
