Explosion in New York: Multiple Injuries confirmed.

Sep 18, 2016

29 people have been injured in an explosion in the Chelsea district of New York City.

However, none of them were life-threatening.

Authorities have ruled out a gas leak, and preliminary investigations suggest it may have been caused by an improvised explosive device, that was placed inside a rubbish bin.

Meanwhile, New York mayor Bill de Blasio says the blast appears to have been an "intentional act".

But so far, there is no evidence that it was linked to terrorism.

Meanwhile, the police say a second explosive device was found nearby, and the surrounding area has been evacuated as a precaution.

The blast came hours after a pipe bomb exploded in a New Jersey town.
