Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi: I will continue to lead the party

Oct 27, 2018

UMNO president Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has dismissed calls asking for him to go on leave.

The former DPM, who faces 45 charges of corruption and breach of trust, says he will continue to lead the party despite those calls.

Zahid adds that his position can only be decided at the UMNO general assembly, and not through calls which do not abide by the party’s constitution.

On Thursday, the UMNO Youth was reported to have urged Zahid to consider going on leave until his court case is settled.

In other news:

Separately, former UMNO veteran Datuk Seri Mustapa Mohamed has joined Parti Pribumi Bersatu Malaysia.

Mustapa, who left UMNO last month, joined on his own accord and not by invitation from Bersatu.

The lawyer for 1MDB confirmed the matter, and says the Admiralty Court had also approved the terms and condition of the bidding.

Qualified bidders must pay a deposit of 1 millon US dollars.

This is to ensure only serious buyers come forward for the vessel said to be worth 250 million dollars.
