Traders are not allowed to charge GST from Friday onwards, even if they claim they have old stock to clear.
The Customs Department says traders would have already claimed input tax from the old stock, and have no reason to penalize customers.
There will also be a massive enforcement operation that will take place from Friday, after the GST is zero-rated.
