Car owners advised to get a full quotation before repairing

Car owners have been advised to get a full quotation from workshops first, before agreeing to any repairs,  to avoid cases of cheating. 

The Malaysian Consumer Claims Tribunal says this includes estimates for parts and labour, as well as the time needed to complete the work. 

The tribunal has heard 85 fraud cases involving auto workshop operators as at July this year, involving losses of just under half a million ringgit.
