Cuepacs wants Awas, Kejara 'immunity' for govt-employed drivers

Sep 14, 2016

Cuepacs says drivers employed by govt departments should be exempted from the upcoming Awas and Kejara road enforcement systems.

Its president told the NST that sometimes, these drivers have to break road rules while discharging their duties, and as such it would be unfair to penalise them for it.

When it's implemented, the Awas and Kejara systems will issue demerit points to drivers who flout traffic rules such as speeding and beating red lights.

If a driver accumulates too many points, their licences could be suspended or even revoked.
