Discussion on medical advice for pregnant Zika patients next week

The Health MInistry will meet with the National Fatwa Council next week, to discuss medical advice for pregnant Zika patients. 

Its minister says, this includes the possibility of allowing them to have abortions. 

Last week, the Federal Territory Mufti reportedly said that Islam allows abortions in such cases, if it brings difficulty, sadness and suffering to the family.

Currently, Malaysian law only allows for abortions in cases where the mother's life is in danger.
