Card holders advised to replace signature-based cards to PIN-based cards

Aug 23, 2016

Bank Negara has advised credit and debit card holders to start replacing their signature-based cards to the new PIN-based cards as soon as possible.

It's to avoid the anticipated rush of last-minute applications, ahead of the deadline to do so at the end of he year.

Starting January next year, all e-payment cards must be PIN-based while signature-based cards will be completely phased out by July.

The PIN-based cards have tighter security features, including a microchip that cannot be forged.
