Schools not allowed to impose fines on students who break the rules
Jun 23, 2016
Schools are not allowed to impose fines on students who break the rules.
According to The Star, the Education Ministry says it would send a wrong message to students, that they can pay their way out of punishment.
This, after a female student at a secondary school in Kedah was fined 100 ringgit for having a short, boyish hairstyle.
She was given the option of paying the fine, or wearing a headscarf until her hair grows back.
