KL Offers 2nd-Highest Salaries In ASEAN

Feb 02, 2026

kl offers 2nd-highest salaries in asean

A new report says that KL offers the second-highest average salary within ASEAN.

According to regional data, the city offers an average monthly salary of RM5,200, putting it behind Singapore.

Meanwhile, Putrajaya is third in ASEAN with an average wage of just under RM5,000 a month, ahead of Selangor, Labuan, Penang and Johor.

However, economists warn that the numbers may not reflect the actual situation in these areas.

It's because of rising costs of living.

FOMCA is reminding people to spend within their means when it comes to Ramadan buffets.

The consumer rights group says they are not an essential service, meaning that businesses are free to set any price they like.

However, it told the NST that the quality of their food offerings must match the prices that they set.

It adds that anyone not happy with the food quality can lodge a complaint with the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry.

This, as some business premises are offering buffet packages of over RM300 per person.

LHDN has warned taxpayers to voluntarily declare any assets that they've parked in offshore tax havens, or face legal penalties.

This, after it identified over 14,000 Malaysians who have a combined RM10 billion in undisclosed offshore accounts.

Many of these accounts are in places including Hong Kong, the Cayman Islands, and Bermuda.
