The government has identified four bills to prioritize when Parliament resumes this week.

Government spokesman Datuk Fahmi Fadzil says the four include a Bill to limit the Prime Minister’s term of office to no more than 10 years and a Bill on the separation of the Public Prosecutor and the Attorney General’s powers.

Earlier, the PM also reminded lawmakers to focus on carrying out their duties, adding that it is their responsibility to not just attend sittings, but to debate important issues.

Expect more hot weather soon.

Met Malaysia says most areas nationwide – especially in the northern Peninsular – will see hot weather and less rain until January 25th.

However, thunderstorms with strong winds can still occur during this period, especially in the late afternoons and early evenings.

The Selangor government will roll out a pilot early intervention program in two Bandar Utama secondary schools to provide peer-based emotional support for students before cases are escalated to mental health professionals.

This, following concerns regarding school safety and the availability of counselling support for students.

One of the two schools involved in the pilot project, is the site of a fatal stabbing involving a student last year.

At least 21 people have been killed after two high-speed trains collided in southern Spain.

More than 30 others sustained serious injuries, with officials expecting the death toll to rise higher.

The official cause of the crash is still unknown, although the collision is said to have occurred on a relatively straight stretch of track.
