Muhyiddin Quits As PN Chief
Dec 30, 2025

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has confirmed he will step down as Perikatan Nasional chairman, effective January 1st.
The Bersatu president said this, amid an internal conflict between his party and PAS over political developments in Perlis.
It stems from the appointment of Bersatu's Abu Bakar Hamzah as the state menteri besar after PAS's Shukri Ramli stepped down.
Following Muhyiddin's announcement, several other senior Bersatu figures also said that they will leave their positions within the coalition.
This includes PN sec-gen Datuk Seri Azmin Ali,, while Datuk Seri Faizal Azumu is resigning as the Perak PN chief.
PAS has since said that it will not be a part of the new Perlis Exco lineup.
The party's existing Exco members will also relinquish their positions immediately.
Meanwhile, PAS also says it is willing to take over the leadership of PN.
According to PAS Sec-Gen Datuk Seri Takiyuddin Hassam, it's to strengthen the coalition ahead of the next General Election.
