Dewan Rakyat Passes Anti-Bully Bill

Dec 03, 2025

dewan rakyat passes anti-bully bill

The Dewan Rakyat has passed the Anti-Bully Bill, which aims to combat bullying in educational institutions.

The bill seeks to prevent and manage bullying, as well as set up an anti-bullying tribunal.

The tribunal will prioritise resolving cases through mediation, but it can also order perpetrators to issue an apology and remove any online bullying content.

It can also order the bully, or their parents, to pay compensation of up to RM250,000.

For now, the bill will focus on primary and secondary students, but the Law and Institutional Reform Minister says its scope could be expanded to cover those over the age of 18 next year.

The PM’s former political secretary and a businessman will face 4 charges at the KL Sessions Court tomorrow over a high-profile corruption case.

The MACC adds that they will each face an additional count in Shah Alam on Friday.

Meanwhile, a woman who was previously arrested over the case will testify as a prosecution witness.

Former Investment, Trade and Industry Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Zafrul Tengku Abdul Aziz has been appointed chairman of the Malaysian Investment Development Authority, or Mida.

The PM's Office says Tengku Zafrul will be given several other responsibilities, which will be announced later.
