New Guidelines For Online Games Soon

Oct 30, 2025

new guidelines for online games soon

A set of digital safety guidelines for online games is in the works…amid concerns about kids being exposed to game addiction, exploitation and bullying on these sites.

The Malaysian Esports Federation told FMT…this was among several measures agreed upon during a meeting between the Youth and Sports Ministry and one of the online game platforms.

It will also be helping to roll out awareness programs to help tackle the issue in a coordinated matter.

This comes in the wake of a recent case in Batu Pahat…where a nine-year-old boy is believed to have slashed his younger brother, after his sibling caused him to lose his accumulated points from a popular online game.

-

Airlines have full discretion on whether to serve alcohol on their flights, as this is a commercial decision.

The Transport Ministry said this amid calls to review the current practice, out of respect for local religious sensitivities.

-

In a related development, the ministry says there are no plans at the moment to suspend the operations of the KLIA Aerotrain…despite it experiencing numerous service disruptions over the past four months.

-

In other news… the government will build a special Kemas pre-school for kids with autism in every state starting next year…to ensure access to inclusive and affordable early education for every child.

-

The Housing and Local Government Ministry is prepared to consider proposals to require dog owners to obtain insurance for their pets, to address the issue of strays and dogs that are difficult to control.

-

The Agriculture and Food Security Ministry has assured there is sufficient supply of food to meet the country’s needs during the monsoon season flooding.

-

The Health Ministry has increased the quota for medical officers in Sabah and Sarawak, to help address the shortage of healthcare professionals in these two states.
