M'sian Students In Indonesia Are Safe

The National Union of Malaysian Students in Indonesia has assured that our students there are safe.
It adds that all of its branches across Indonesia are closely monitoring the current volatile situation.
This, amid ongoing demonstrations in Jakarta and other major cities, which started due to public anger over lavish new benefits for lawmakers.

The Finance Ministry has assured that improvements are being made to the SARA system.
This includes an increase in the system's capacity, and enhancements to its troubleshooting process.
This, as part of efforts to help accommodate the growing number of recipients making purchases at supermarkets.

In a related development, the ministry says over 75 million ringgit in SARA aid was spent yesterday.
This brings the total spending nationwide since the aid's rollout to over 192 million ringgit.

The Defense Ministry will hold talks with the Education Ministry about employing armed forces veterans in security roles at schools and education offices.
This is similar to the recent move by MARA, to recruit veterans as hostel wardens.

The inquest into the death of Form One student Zara Qairina starts today at the Coroner's Court in Kota Kinabalu.
Around 70 witnesses, including the pathologist who conducted the post-mortem on the teenager, are expected to testify during the 19-day proceedings.
