rm100 aid, lower ron95 for malaysians

Good news for Malaysians!

In his special address earlier today, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced a 100-ringgit one-off aid for all Malaysians aged 18 and above.

Eligible recipients will receive the credit through their MyKad starting August 31st, which can be used at over four thousand stores nationwide until the end of the year.

He adds that the move is estimated to benefit around 22 million people.

The PM also announced further measures to ease living costs.

For starters, the price of RON95 for Malaysians will be lowered to 1.99 sen per liter under a targeted subsidy scheme that will be announced in September.

Also, toll rates for 10 highways will not be increased, with the government to spend 500 million ringgit to maintain the existing toll rates.

The PM also announced that September 15th will be declared an extra public holiday this year, in conjunction with Malaysia day.

The Environment Department is stepping up efforts to prevent open burning amid the current haze.

Its intensified ground patrols and physical monitoring in fire-prone areas, especially bush areas, abandoned plantations, and landfills.

The department has conducted over four thousand ground patrols, as well as drone surveillance so far.

The public is also being warned to refrain from engaging in any form of open burning, which is punishable under the law.

Meanwhile, the Education Ministry says state education directors have been authorized to take immediate action based on the air quality readings in their areas.

As such, outdoor activities will be prohibited if the API levels exceed 100, while home-based teaching and learning will be activated if readings surpass 200.
