'special announcement' tomorrow or wednesday

The Prime Minister’s highly-anticipated special announcement for Malaysians will be made either tomorrow or on Wednesday. 

Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim says he needs more time to look into the matter. 

He had earlier hinted that the announcement, which he described as an extraordinary tribute to Malaysians, would be made early this week.

The JPJ plans to expand the enforcement of seatbelt usage to all buses operated by higher education institutions and fully residential schools.

Enforcement teams will be mobilized next month to begin inspections.

In a related development, the department has issued nearly 1,300 summonses under its special operation to ensure the use of seatbelts on express and tour buses.

This, as the JPJ continues to crack down on buses following the fatal crash that claimed the lives of 15 UPSI students last month.

The Border Control and Protection Agency says the disruptions to the autogate system at our national entry points was due to a technical issue with their database.

However, investigations are still ongoing into the cause of the glitch.

The agency also assured that the system has been fully restored at all entry points nationwide, including KLIA terminals 1 and 2 as well as at the Sultan Iskandar CIQ complex.

Indonesia is set to begin cloud seeding in Riau to combat escalating forest and land fires there, which are causing haze to drift into Malaysia.

The country's National Disaster Mitigation Agency says the operation will start today, and last for a week.
