Syed Saddiq's Legal Battle May Continue
Jun 25, 2025

Syed Saddiq may not be completely out of the woods yet in his CBT case.
This is after the MACC said that prosecutors plan to lodge an appeal to the Federal Court, after his conviction and sentence were tossed out on appeal.
The Court of Appeal ruled this morning, that the prosecution had failed to prove its case and the Muar MP should have been acquitted without having to enter his defence.
Because of this, the appellate court tossed out his guilty verdict, for abetting in criminal breach of trust, misappropriation of assets, and money laundering.
It also set aside his 7-year jail sentence and RM10 million fine.
Meanwhile, MUDA is meeting today to discuss Syed Saddiq's status in the political party.
Syed Saddiq temporarily stepped down as MUDA president in 2023, after his conviction by the KL High Court, saying he wanted to focus on his appeals process.
Despite this, the former Youth and Sports Minister remains an influential figure in MUDA.
It's due to his status as the party's founder, while he is also their only member of parliament.
