The Health Ministry is warning of a rise in the online sale of illegal medicines.

This, after it seized more than 37 million ringgit worth of illegal health products last year…which is eight percent higher than in 2023.

The Ministry warns that these illegal medications – which include counterfeit or unlicensed products – can pose serious long-term health risks like organ failure.

Almost all Malaysian employers have been abiding by the new 1,700 ringgit minimum wage.

The Human Resources Ministry says as of March…the compliance rate stood at 99.5 percent.

It adds that up to 4.3 million workers in Malaysia are estimated to have benefited from the 200 ringgit increase in the minimum wage…which came into effect in February.

The Fire and Rescue Department is upgrading its digital systems…to make use of things like AI, bodycams, smart maps and improved communications.

It says this is to help it reduce its response time…and better serve the public.

In a related development…the Department says 260 out of the over one thousand firemen who had earlier been identified as obese…have successfully managed to reduce their BMI to ideal levels within six months.

The Social Welfare Department says there are currently some 1,500 people still seeking shelter at flood relief centers in Sabah.

Elsewhere, the People’s Action Party has won Singapore’s general election, taking 87 out of 97 seats in Parliament as well as over 65 percent of the popular vote.

It was the first electoral victory for Prime Minister Lawrence Wong since he took office last year.

Meanwhile, Anthony Albanese has been re-elected as Australia’s Prime Minister after a landslide election victory for his Labour party.
