There shouldn't be any changes to egg prices

May 02, 2025

there shouldn't be any changes to egg prices

For now there should not be any change in the price of chicken eggs, despite the subsidy revision that came into effect yesterday.

The Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry says for the time being, traders are still required to follow the regulated price.

Prices will only be floated once the subsidy is completely removed in August.

KPDN urged people to lodge a report if they see any change in egg prices.

There will be a three-month grace period before authorities start enforcing the new rule for private clinics to display medicine prices.

The Health Ministry says for now, the focus will be on advocacy and awareness.

And despite the ruling, the ministry stressed that it has no plans to introduce price controls for medicines.

Meanwhile a group of consumer rights NGOs has welcomed the medicine price display rule, saying it reinforces the people's right to make informed purchasing decisions.

It also hopes that such a ruling will keep prices under control, as Malaysia's medical inflation rose 15% last year which is more than the global average.

On average, Malaysia reported more than 1 accident per minute in April!

This is based on data published daily by PDRM's Traffic Enforcement and Investigations Department.

In all, there were over 54 thousand accidents nationwide last month, which is slightly lower than the total for March.

Over 400 people died in fatal crashes in April, with an average of 14 fatalities per day.

Meanwhile, close to 1,400 accidents happened yesterday, on the 1st of May, with 19 accident-related deaths.
