pdrm warns of fake email in circulation

PDRM is warning of a new scam, this time involving an email bearing the name and image of the Inspector General of Police.

The message asks recipients to respond to an attached summons, failing which legal action will apparently be taken.

Bukit Aman, however, has confirmed that the contents are false, and the message is an attempt to scam unsuspecting victims.

Separately, police have opened an investigation into an e-hailing driver in Kuching, Sarawak…who allegedly harassed his teenaged passenger by asking her to remove her headscarf.

The incident also prompted the Women, Family and Community Development Minister to call on everyone to be brave enough to speak up against sexual harassment…saying victims do not need to remain silent.

The Health Ministry has issued over 43 thousand notices for various offences, since the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act came into force in October last year.

This involved fines amounting to over 10 million ringgit.

The Kedah state government says it plans to tighten control on the sale of vape products first, before deciding whether to impose a complete ban.

This, after Terengganu recently imposed a ban on the sale of vape products in the state starting August.

The Statistics Department says there were over 219 thousand active women-owned business establishments in 2022…accounting for more than 20 percent of total registered establishments in the country.

And, the operator of the Penang ferry service is considering making changes to its schedule, to align its timetable with that of the ETS train operation…to encourage more rail passengers to take the ferry to the island.
