US-Msia To Hold Formal Tariff Negotiations

Malaysia and the US have agreed to hold formal negotiations on the Trump administration's 24% tariffs on Malaysian imports.
The Investment, Trade and Industry Minister says the talks will mainly focus on reducing the tariff.
The delegates will also discuss non-tariff trade barriers and trade imbalances.
The negotiations will begin once the Cabinet gives the green light.

Residents affected by the Putra Heights gas pipeline explosion will receive some good news this week.
The Housing and Local Govt Minister says an announcement will soon be made on an unprecedented recovery plan, but for now he declined to go into details.
Meanwhile, the Selangor govt says it has so far distributed rental aid to over 150 affected households.
They received RM6,000 which will cover the first three months of rent.

The Education Ministry has pledged immediate support to SMK Tinggi Setapak, KL, after one of its dormitory buildings caught fire last night.
Meanwhile, the National Registration Dept has deployed its officers to the school, to help students replace damaged or destroyed MyKads.
Earlier reports said 80% of the building was destroyed, and authorities are still investigating to determine the cause.
No students were hurt, as they were all at the surau at the time of the incident.
