cabinet policies must prioritise national unity

The Cabinet says JAKIM can offer advice to Muslims who plan to attend non-Muslim ceremonies.  

However, that advice does NOT constitute official government policy.  

It adds that new policies must prioritise national unity, and be approved by the Cabinet. 

This following concerns over proposed guidelines for Muslims when attending non-Muslim celebrations, funerals, and events at their places of worship.

The Transport Ministry has appointed three new companies to provide vehicle inspection services, to serve alongside Puspakom.  

The companies will operate in areas including Port Klang, Rawang, Mersing and Kuching.  

This, following the end of Puspakom’s monopoly on vehicle services.

Authorites are expanding peak hour restrictions on heavy vehicles for certain Klang Vally Highways starting February 19th, to help ease traffic flow.  

The Malaysian Highway Authority says it covers the North-South Expressway, as well as the NKVE, ELITE, and DUKE highways.

The first phase of UPU Online applications for foundation, certificate, diploma, and bachelor’s degree programmes will be open from Monday next week to March 14.

Phase 2 takes place from the middle of April to mid-May.

Separately, Sarawakians studying in tertiary institutions in Malaysia will receive their RM1,200 pocket money from the state government starting in April.

And at last look, 7,000 people are currently affected by floods in Sarawak, with another 600 displaced in Sabah.
