The Ampang-Sri Petaling LRT line will have women-only coaches starting December 31st.

According to Rapid Rail, it aims to provide a safer and more comfortable travel experience for women, who account for around 60% of rail passengers.

These coaches are also open to boys aged 12 and below, who are accompanied by a female guardian.

Meanwhile, the rail operator adds that the disabled community, including their caregivers, they are given priority to use any train car.

It adds that auxiliary police will conduct regular monitoring to ensure that the rules are being followed.

This is the third Rapil Rail service to implement women-only coaches, after the Kajang Line last year and Putrajaya Line back in April.

Since its introduction, the Kajang Line saw a 22% drop in unwanted incidents targeting women.

Meanwhile there was a 50% decline on the Putrajaya Line.

Meanwhile to avoid adding to the holiday congestion, cops urged commercial vehicles to consider using federal and state roads for now.

Ops Lancar is in effect from today until January 2nd.

This, as PDRM reported just under 1,500 road accidents yesterday, with 13 fatalities.
