Rosmah Acquitted, What's Next?

Dec 19, 2024

rosmah acquitted, what's next?

Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor has been acquitted of all charges in her money laundering and tax evasion trial.

She was freed on 17 counts of laundering RM7 million and failing to declare her income to the IRB, after the High Court ruled that the charges were “illegal and flawed.”

Rosmah expressed relief that justice has been served.

However, her legal battles are not over yet, as the Attorney General has already vowed to appeal the acquittal.

Besides this, Rosmah is also appealing against her conviction in her RM1.2 billion solar hybrid project corruption case.

The Education Minister has told all schools to conduct regular safety inspections of their buildings.

This, following the death of a student who was electrocuted at a religious school in Serdang, Selangor.

She says that while the incident happened at a facility outside of the ministry's jurisdiction, it still serves as a reminder to ensure that all school premises are safe.

Separately, Fadhlina Sidek has defended the decision to proceed with the SPM Oral exams earlier this month, despite the major flooding in several states.

She says the decision was made following several discussions with the relevant agencies.

Fadhlina adds that despite the flooding, attendance at the three worst-affected states of Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah still reached 97%, thanks to measures that ensured candidates were able to sit for the exams.
