More Floods Expected In Kelantan

Dec 15, 2024

more floods expected in kelantan

More than 20 villages in Pasir Mas, Jeli and Tanah Merah, Kelantan are expected to experience flooding between tomorrow and Wednesday.

The Drainage and Irrigation Department says all affected villages are within a 5km radius of Sungai Golok.

This comes after the Met Department earlier issued a continuous rain alert for parts of Perak, Kelantan, Terengganu and Pahang from tomorrow until Thursday.

-

The Health Ministry says there were more than 1,300 dengue cases nationwide for the week ending December 9th…with two fatalities also reported.

Its also urging those in flood-affected areas to be extra vigilant…since water lodged inside flood debris can serve as breeding grounds for Aedes mosquitoes.

-

Separately, the Health Minister has proposed the introduction of a Good Samaritan Law, to provide legal protection for bystanders who offer help during an emergency.

This is to encourage more people to come forward and offer assistance, without fear of consequences in the event things go wrong.

-

The Chief Secretary to the Government says the relevant parties are expected to finalize the pension percentage for retirees within the next two weeks, following the new remuneration scheme for civil servants.

-

Datuk Seri Amirudin Shari has dismissed suggestions that he may step down as Selangor Menteri Besar…adding that he will continue serving until the end of this term.

-

And elsewhere, South Korean MP’s have voted to impeach President Yoon Suk Yeol…over his recent failed attempt to impose martial law.

The decision, however, still needs to be ratified by Korea’s constitutional court.
