Coming Soon: BNM's Decision On Insurance Premiums

We will soon find out if there will be a big hike in our insurance premiums.  

Communications Minister Fahmi Fadzil says Bank Negara has been in discussions with the relevant agencies on the matter, and the outcome should be announced shortly...  

He hopes that the central bank will make a decision that will be fair for insurance buyers.  

This, amid the public outcry over a reported 40%-70% increase in medical insurance premiums.

On average, one person dies in a road accident in Malaysia every two hours!  

Meanwhile, another staggering average is that 1.2 crashes are reported nationwide EVERY MINUTE!  

From December 1st until yesterday, a total of 20,000 accidents and 140 fatalities happened on our roads.  

Ever since the police started releasing daily statistics in mid-March, there have been 475,000 crashes.

Malaysia’s media salary has increased by RM100, to over RM2,700 a month. 

The Economy Ministry also says that currently, around 32% of all workers earn less than RM2,000 monthly, compared to 34% last year. 

The number is expected to drop further next year, with the new minimum wage and the full implementation of the progressive wage policy.
