AGC Drops Appeal Against Zahid's Acquittal
Dec 12, 2024

The Attorney General’s Chambers has withdrawn its appeal against Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi…over his acquittal from 40 corruption charges linked to the Foreign Visa System contract.
It says it is of the view that there is a strong legal and factual basis to maintain the High Court’s earlier decision to acquit the Deputy Prime Minister.
Zahid was previously charged with receiving bribes while he was home minister and DPM under the previous BN administration.
However, he was subsequently given an acquittal and discharge by the High Court in September 2022…after ruling that the prosecution had failed to prove its case against him.
