Stay Away From Floodwaters

Do not let your children play in floodwaters.  

The Malaysian Medical Association says floodwater is highly pathogenic and can cause numerous health hazards, including potentially fatal diseases. 

It told NST that contact with such water can also cause skin irritation, infections, and conjunctivitis. 

This, after a video went viral on social media showing kids allegedly playing in a flooded street in Kelantan.

In other news..  

The Health Ministry says the rise in suicidal behavior among teenagers is due to high-density housing areas and the low-cost People’s Housing Program.  

As such, the ministry will collaborate with the WHO and UNICEF to launch an action plan to address the growing issue.  

The plan, which will be launched next year, includes efforts such as increasing the number of child psychiatrists in public hospitals to 30 by 2027, up from the current 18.

Separately, the MCMC has removed 500% more pornographic content this year so far, compared to 2022.  

The Communications Ministry says the surge could be due to the rise in AI usage, which some people are using to generate such content.
