Flood Update: PM Freezes Cabinet Ministers' Leave
Nov 29, 2024
All cabinet ministers will be on duty during the major floods reported in the peninsular.
According to PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim, their leave has been frozen.
They have also been ordered to help with flood relief efforts.
Meanwhile, the Domestic Trade and Cost of Living Ministry says it has made the necessary preparations to ensure that flood affected states WILL have enough supplies of essential goods.
This, amid worsening conditions, especially on the east coast.
In Kelantan, nearly 70,000 people are housed at over 250 relief centres across 10 districts.
While in Terengganu, floods have displaced 18,000 people, and according to Astro Awani's Nur Fazlizai Ali, Besut is the worst-affected district.
Elsewhere, Kedah has reported close to 3,000 flood victims, and just under 2,000 are seeking shelter in Negeri Sembilan.
The remainder are in Selangor, Perlis, Melaka, Perak and Johor.
And according to the NADMA portal, three deaths have been reported so far; two in Kelantan and one in Terengganu.
Meanwhile MetMalaysia says we should expect continuous heavy rain across the east coast and parts of Perak, Perlis, Kedah, Penang and Johor until tomorrow.
This includes danger-level continious torrential downpours for the whole of Terengganu, and all parts of Kelantan except for Gua Musang, which is expectged to see severe-level rainfall.
Still on the floods, TNB has rubbished social media claims that water will be released from Kelantan’s Pergau Dam
It says the dam's water levels are still under control.
