East Coast Floods Worsen

The flood situation on the East Coast is worsening.
As at 6pm, the Social Welfare Dept's portal reported over 16,000 evacuees in Kelantan.
They're housed in over a hundred temporary shelters in 9 districts there.
Another 2 thousand evacuees are currently displaced in Terengganu.

This, as MetMalaysia updated its danger-level weather alert, which is in effect until Friday.
The new alert covers the whole of Kelantan and Terengganu, as well as the districts of Jerantut and Kuantan, Pahang.
A danger-level alert means that these areas will see extreme levels of heavy rainfall until Friday.

Pahang has frozen the leave of some 8,000 of its civil servants, to help the state deal with the impact of the monsoon period.
It's to ensure the state is ready to handle flood disasters that can occur at any time.

The Health Ministry has confirmed a second case of Mpox in Malaysia, involving a 34-year-old local who had travelled overseas over the past 21 days.
The patient is in stable condition in isolation, and all close contacts are being identified and monitored for symptoms.

The High Court has granted Datuk Seri Najib Razak a discharge not amounting to an acquittal, in his criminal breach of trust trial involving RM6.6 billion in government funds.
It granted the former PM's request, as the prosecution had failed to hand over crucial documents to the defence.
The DNAA means the prosecution are free to file the charges again in the future.
