Malaysians could be issued a new IC soon. 

The Home Ministry says it's in the final stages of developing a new identity document to replace the MyKad.  

Deputy Minister Datuk Seri Dr Shamsul Anuar Nasarah says the new ID will be equipped with the latest security measures. 

This, as part of efforts to combat issues such as personal data leakages and identity theft...   

The current version of the MyKad has been around since 2012.

The MyJPJ App is continually being updated to improve its functionality.  

Transport Minister Anthony Loke says this includes a plan to send reminders, when a drivers’ road tax is due to expire...  

In a related development, Loke says those who want a physical copy of their driving license may be required to pay a fee starting next year.

Separately, the Transport Ministry says bus operators have been ordered to immediately cease usage of any 3-pin electrical sockets and USB ports in their buses.  

This, after investigations blamed improper wiring for the death of a teenager, who was electrocuted while charging his phone on an express bus.

Part of Jalan Masjid India, which was closed following the deadly sinkhole incident in August, has been reopened to the public. 

Meanwhile repair works at the exact area of the sinkhole are expected to be completed by the end of December.

And the KL Sessions Court has acquitted the late Tun Daim Zainuddin of all charges for failing to declare assets after the former Finance Minister passed away last week.
