The Transport Ministry is calling for more action to address the country’s high accident rate.

This, after it revealed that more than half a million traffic accidents have been reported nationwide in the first ten months of the year.

More than five thousand of these were fatal cases…with motorcyclists and pillion riders once again making up the majority of the deaths.

Separately, Bukit Aman’s Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department has opened a probe into a recent incident along the North South Expressway where a police car collided with a civilian vehicle while escorting a VIP.

PTPTN will issue an official statement soon, regarding its proposal to stop funding for university courses with a low repayment rate.

The Higher Education Ministry says the fund has already formed a committee to study and review the move from all aspects.

The National Anti-Drugs Agency is setting up more labs to detect synthetic drugs, with the first two facilities to be built in Kedah and Johor.

The Home Ministry says this is an important step towards dealing with such drugs, which are becoming more common and easily available.

The Kelantan government says the proposed security wall along its border with Thailand will cost an estimated 445 million ringgit for land acquisition alone.
