pdrm steps up enforcement on commercial vehicles

PDRM is stepping up its enforcement activities against commercial vehicles that violate road safety rules.  

It vowed to take tough action against the companies that own such vehicles, especially if they cause fatal accidents.  

According to Bukit Aman’s traffic enforcement department, commercial vehicles were involved in 170 accidents in the first 9 months of the year, causing nearly 100 fatalities.  

Meanwhile earlier this week, a 21-year-old woman died when her car was crushed by a container that fell off a trailer in Penang.

In related news, a total of 1,802 road accidents were reported nationwide yesterday, involving all types of vehicles.  

10 people were killed in fatal crashes.

Just over 4% of public varsity students were unable to complete their studies last year.  

According to the Higher Education Ministry, the main reasons included financial burdens and failing their exams.  

As such, it has implemented several initiatives to help students facing problems.  

This includes setting up food banks, offering financial assistance, and providing counselling and mentorship programmes.

Satirical news website The Onion has bought InfoWars, the media empire owned by far-right conspiracy theorist Alex Jones.  

This, following a court-ordered auction of Jones’s assets, after he declared bankruptcy after losing a lawsuit filed by the families of the Sandy Hook school shooting victims.

According to reports, the Onion will transform InfoWars into a site that will parody conspiracy theories.
