nearly 4,000 healthcare staff get permanent posts

Nearly four thousand healthcare professionals who were earlier offered interim contracts at government hospitals have been granted permanent positions.

This includes medical officers, dentists and pharmacists.

Job placement for these candidates will be managed by the respective state health departments, and will start later next month.

The Maritime Enforcement Agency says its personnel are on standby to offer assistance, in the event other agencies need their help for disaster relief operations during the North East Monsoon.

This includes search and rescue operations and well as the delivery of food and supplies.

It comes after the Met Department recently forecast heavier rainfall for parts of the country during the monsoon season, compared to last year.

The Deputy Prime Minister is proposing that Deepavali be declared a public holiday in Sarawak.

Datuk Seri Fadhillah Yusof says he will bring the matter up with the state government following requests from the Hindu community there.

This comes after the Sarawak premier had earlier hinted that the state would consider joining the rest of the country in declaring Deepavali a holiday.

The MACC says more than 3,100 reports have been filed against civil servants for bribery in the first ten months of the year.

There’ve also been 547 arrests…comprising both top management as well as operational staff.
