Muhyiddin Ordered To Pay Damages

muhyiddin ordered to pay damages

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has been ordered to pay over 1.3 million ringgit in damages for defaming former Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng.

The KL High Court ruled that the former Prime Minister had failed to verify the facts when he accused Lim of amending the tax-exempt status of Yayasan Albukhary during the Pakatan Harapan administration.

Muhyiddin has also been ordered to retract the offending statement and not to republish it.

Six Malaysian peacekeepers have been injured in an Israeli strike in southern Lebanon.

The attack was targeting a nearby car passing through a checkpoint, but fragments from the blast ended up hitting the vehicle transporting the Malaysian troops.

The Defense Ministry says the six, who are part of the Malaysian Battalion under the United Nation’s Interim Force in Lebanon, suffered light injuries.

The Home Ministry has cleared the air over the proposed new house arrest law.

It clarified that the focus for now, is only on those who are on remand and are awaiting their trial dates.

It adds that prisoners who are serving longer sentences, and those doing time for serious offences, will not be eligible.

The Prime Minister’s visit to China this week has generated potential exports worth over three billion ringgit.

The Investment, Trade and Industry Ministry says the trip saw the PM meeting with 24 companies, including those in the semiconductor, aerospace and automotive sectors.

The Air Force says it has identified landing spots nationwide, for its aircraft to deliver aid and supplies to disaster-hit areas during the North East Monsoon.
