Task Force To Probe Bus Electrocution

A special task force has been set up to investigate the fatal electrocution of a teenager while charging his phone on board an express bus in Penang last week.

The Transport Ministry says the task force will be made up of members from the JPJ, Land Public Transport Agency and the Malaysian Institute of Road Safety Research.

The Ministry adds that the bus in question has also been taken out of operation, pending a full investigation into the incident.

More than 12 thousand vehicles have been stopped and inspected nationwide, on the first day of the JPJ’s Ops Khas Motosikal.

Action was also taken against some 1,400 motorists for offences including not having a valid license and excessive modifications.

The two-month nationwide operation is being carried out to reduce the rate of road accidents in the country…especially among motorcyclists and pillion riders.

Six Malaysian-based companies are among nearly 400 entities that have been sanctioned by the US State Department for alleged links to Russia’s manufacturing sector.

The list targets producers, exporters or importers of items that could be used to support the Russian war in Ukraine.

Johor is set to become the first state in the country to offer a starting salary of between 4 and 5 thousand ringgit for skilled workers.

The DPM says the pay will be available for those in specific sectors, related to the Johor-Singapore Special Economic Zone.
