Over Half Of Civil Servants Keen To Work After Retirement

over half of civil servants keen to work after retirement

Nearly half of Malaysian civil servants are interested in working after retirement.

According to a new survey…over 45 percent of them are keen to continue, if they can get a flexible work arrangement.

Meanwhile, five percent of respondents are interested in part-time work…while 3.7 percent are actually looking to continue working full-time post-retirement.

The Fire and Rescue Department will be freezing the leave of its personnel, as part of preparations for the Northeast Monsoon.

It says the freeze will be focused on areas where flooding is expected to hit the hardest.

However, the Department is not ruling out barring personnel in other states from going on leave…if the situation becomes critical, and their support is needed in the affected areas.

The Employment Agencies Association of Malaysia is asking for clear details about the proposed EPF contribution scheme for foreign workers.

It says there needs to be clarity about the mechanism – especially for the foreign workers themselves, many of whom are unaware about the scheme.

The association also raised concerns about the added cost the EPF scheme would impose on SME’s.

The Home Ministry is prioritizing the upgrading of old and dilapidated police stations and district headquarters nationwide.

It says many of these buildings were constructed during the 70’s and 80’s…and are in need of sprucing up.
