GISB Quarantine Centres Probed

Police have opened 10 more investigation papers into GISB.
According to the IGP, it’s to probe allegations of forced labour made by several former employees.
Cops are also investigating so-called GISB quarantine centres, where problematic members allegedly face mental abuse and indoctrination.
Meanwhile, the Selangor MB has vowed to close and seize all GISB-linked premises in the state, including welfare homes and religious schools.
The state will also help children rescued from the group, especially with their education.

The police have urged people to help educate their elderly relatives about the dangers of online scams.
This is after Bukit Aman voiced concerns about the amount of money that senior citizens lose to scammers.
According to the Commercial Crimes Dept’s statistics, seniors accounted for 9% of all scam victims reported from January to August.
However, their losses stood at Rm255 million ringgit, which is nearly 28% of ALL the money lost.

The Federal Territories Minister has warned food operators their licenses will be revoked for failing to maintain hygiene standards.
As of July, DBKL has shut down over 400 premises due to problems including dirty surroundings and rat infestations.
Separately, authorities have ordered the dining hall of MRSM Terendak, Melaka to close for 2 weeks for poor hygiene, after rat droppings were found on the floor.
