Abang Bas Charged Again

Sep 12, 2024

abang bas charged again

The Johor school bus driver accused of illegally recording his underaged passengers has been hit with another charge in court.

This time, he is accused of making inappropriate comments about a minor on one of his TikTok videos.

He pleaded not guilty.

The accused, who’s nicknamed ‘Abang Bas’, previously claimed trial on two counts of physical and non-physical sexual assault against children.

The DPM says the Conference of Rulers will have the final say on the issue of compulsory halal certification.

Datuk Seri Dr Zahid Hamidi also said the issue is still a proposal, that needs further study, and it should not be politicised.

Earlier reports said the PM had instructed the Religious Affairs Minister to prepare a full report on the proposal, which will be presented to the Cabinet next week.

The proposal would reportedly make halal certification compulsory for all restaurants that do not serve pork or alcohol.

Meanwhile the IGP says cops have wrapped up their probe into Seputeh MP Teresa Kok, over her comments about the proposal.

The investigation paper has been sent to the prosecutor’s office for further action.

--

Separately, the IGP says cops have obtained remand orders against 170 people arrested following a series of raids on 20 welfare homes in Selangor and Negeri Sembilan.

This, amid allegations of abuse on the children at the homes, which were allegedly linked to a company accused of having ties with the banned al-Arqam movement.
