muhyiddin charged under sedition act

Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has claimed trial to a charge of making seditious remarks at a political event in the lead-up to the Nenggiri by-election.

The PN chairman and former Prime Minister pleaded not guilty, when the charges were read to him at the Gua Musang Sessions Court this morning.

If found guilty, he faces a fine of up to five thousand ringgit or a three year jail term.

Tan Sri Muhyiddin was accused of touching on 3R sensitivities with his remarks, where he allegedly questioned the decision to appoint Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Prime Minister after the last general election.

At least 29 police reports have since been lodged over the speech.

DBKL has been told to work closely with geologists and infrastructure experts to assess and mitigate the risk of sinkholes in KL.

The Federal Territories Minister says this includes the possibility of reviewing urban planning policies in the city, and strengthening SOP’s for development projects.

This comes in the wake of last week’s sinkhole incident along Jalan Masjid India.

Meanwhile, the Deputy PM’s office has confirmed that the visas for the family of the sinkhole victim from India, have been extended by a month.

The family will also be provided with the necessary assistance, while the search for the missing victim continues.

In a related development, University Malaya has clarified that the so-called author of a viral social media article claiming the existence of a giant sinkhole beneath KL...is not employed as a geologist at the university.
