Woman Falls Into Sinkhole

For now, there are no plans to cordon off the area near Jalan Masjid India, where a sinkhole appeared this morning.  

According to the Dang Wangi district police chief, this is because the area is still considered safe.  

He adds that a proper analysis will be conducted and the area will only be closed off it it's necessary.  

This, as the Bukit Bintang member of parliament called on DBKL to conduct a thorough investigation of its drainage system. 

It's to ensure that there are no issues that could cause problems like more sinkholes.    

Meanwhile search efforts are still ongoing for a woman who fell into the sinkhole.  

She has been identified as a 48-year-old Indian national.  

According to earlier reports, the woman was walking in the area when the ground underneath her collapsed.

The Finance Ministry says some 8.5 million Malaysians will receive cash aid of between RM50 and RM650 starting Aug 29, under Phase 3 of the Sumbangan Tunai Rahmah initiative. 

Existing recipients will receive the cash aid on the 29th, while new recipients will receive the cash aid from Sept 18.

According to Indonesian media, the situation in Jakarta remains under control, amid reports of street protests over a controversial draft law.  

This, despite lawmakers scrapping the bill, which would have e strengthened the influence of the country's president after he leaves office.

US vice president Kamala Harris has officially accepted the nomination to be the Democratic Party candidate for the presidential election in November. 

She'll face Republican nominee Donald Trump, and independent candidates including former Democrat Robert F Kennedy Jr.
