Johor Child Kidnap Suspect Charged
Aug 08, 2024
An unemployed man has been hit with multiple charges over the kidnapping of a young girl in Johor last month.
The 31-year-old pleaded not guilty on 8 counts at separate courts in JB for kidnapping and the possession of child sexual abuse materials.
He was then charged in Kulai, on further counts related to the possession of pornographic materials.
Meanwhile, the Johor police chief says the incident appeared to be isolated, as he allegedly acted alone and had no previous victims.
The 6-year-old girl was taken during an event at a mall in Iskandar Puteri last month.
She was rescued three days later from a budget hotel in Batang Kali, Selangor.

Britain’s High Commissioner to Malaysia has assured that the UK is still a safe destination for students looking to further their studies.
This, following the recent far-right protests in several cities.
Meanwhile, the Communications Ministry says the UK is one of several countries that have enquired about Malaysia’s move to start licensing social media platforms.
This is after the recent British far-right riots, which were reportedly triggered by misinformation on social media about the recent deadly stabbing attack in Southport.
So far, 400 people have been arrested over the UK riots, and 140 of them have already been charged.
Meanwhile, thousands of anti-racism protestors staged peaceful demonstrations across Britain last night.
