Malaysia Condemns Ismail Haniyeh Assassination

Jul 31, 2024

malaysia condemns ismail haniyeh assassination

Malaysia has condemned the assassination of Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh.

PM Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim called it a deliberate attempt to sabotage talks for a ceasefire in Gaza, which has already claimed 40,000 Palestinian lives.

He also hailed Ismail as a close friend and a true fighter figure of the Palestinian people.

Meanwhile, Wisma Putra called for a thorough investigation of the killing and said that those responsible must be brought to justice.

It also called for all sides to exercise restraint while the facts surrounding the assassination are being established.

Earlier reports said that Ismail was assassinated in Iran's capital Tehran.

So far no one has claimed responsibility for the killing but Hamas is blaming Israel.

PTPTN has extended its loan restructuring campaign until the end of September.

Under the campaign, borrowers who have arrears will need to make an initial payment of at least RM300.

They must then negotiate a regular repayment schedule via salary deductions or direct debit.

According to police figures, 1,742 road accidents were reported nationwide yesterday, with 14 deaths.

This means that just over 240 thousand crashes have been reported since PDRM started releasing daily accident stats back in mid-March.
